Want to Win?
One-stop shopping for 101 ways you can defeat Trump
The problem is time. We’re all busy, stressed, doing too much already. But we want to get involved, we want to help Kamala and other progressives across the finish line. We want to be able to look posterity in the eye and say we were there when it mattered.
But how best to put our unique talents to use? The paradox of volunteering is that it’s hard to get started. It takes time and energy to figure out when and where and how to volunteer.
Here’s a one-stop shopping guide to how you can help, taken from the awesome Jessica Craven’s very useful substack Chop Wood Carry Water, filled with daily practical ideas for activism. Please share!

I’m still struggling with how best to help. I show up for voter registration events in areas I think will mostly have blue-leaning voters. (Pro tip: don’t set up a voter registration table outside of Tractor Supply.) I donate, I post on social media, I write occasional letters to the Editor and articles for various newsletters. What else can I do?
In looking over this list, I was intrigued by the idea of Voter Protection, so I clicked on that one and signed up. No idea what it’s all about but I’m not committed to anything, just shopping. I’ll see if it’s something I might be able to do effectively.
Dear Friends,
Are you worried, inspired, hopeful, and nervous (all at the same time) about the election of 2024? I hope you’ll continue to check out The Optimistic Activist.
Every week I post some ideas for doing something. How to get out the vote, spread the word, and support progressive candidates. Ideas for simple but effective activism. As easy, as practical, as do-able as I can make them.
Together, I think, we could really make a difference.
